What Causes Hemorrhoids
As one of the most common medical conditions, many people are often wondering exactly what causes hemorrhoids and how they can get rid of it. The most common causes of this condition are improper diet, constipation and straining on the toilet.
These causes are, in fact, interrelated. Eating the wrong kinds of food may lead to constipation which will then require too much straining from you during bowel movement.
It has also been noticed that as people change their dietary intake and lean more towards processed food, the incidence of hemorrhoids increases.
The modern toilet also aggravates cases of hemorrhoids because it encourages straining and provides little support to the pelvic area; a squat toilet is a better option in preventing hemorrhoids. Other risk factors for hemroids include heredity, aging and pregnancy.
Studies suggest that the Western diet, which is significantly lacking in fiber, accounts for most cases and what causes hemorrhoids. It has in fact been noted that this condition is relatively rare in less developed countries where diet consists mostly of roughage and fiber.
